What learning Polish is actually like
Polish looks unpronounceable and is not. The spelling is completely regular once you know what the letter combinations stand for, and the stress lands on the second to last syllable essentially always, so there is nothing to memorize on that front. Those consonant clusters that look impossible on the page are consistent, and your mouth genuinely does learn them.
Seven cases is the real cost and it is a real cost. There are far fewer freebies from English than the Romance languages hand you, so more of the vocabulary has to be earned outright. The upside is that Polish rewards talking more than almost anything else, because those endings only ever become automatic through use and no amount of staring at a table is going to do it for you.
