The pronunciation is the gift here. Spanish is spelled the way it sounds, so once you have the five vowels down you can look at a word you have never seen and say it correctly, which is not true of English and is very much not true of French. What actually gets people is speed. Written Spanish looks manageable, and then a real person says the whole sentence as one long word and you catch about a third of it.

English hands you a large amount of the vocabulary for free, since most words ending in -tion just become -ción, though it catches you out occasionally and telling somebody you are embarazada announces a pregnancy rather than mild embarrassment. Anyone talking a little every day tends to manage ordering food and small talk within a few weeks. Ser versus estar and the subjunctive are the long game, and neither is worth a minute of worry in month one.
